Brownsville Business Association

Twenty-two members were in attendance Tuesday, March 17, 2009, for the monthly meeting of the Brownsville Business Association held at the Delta Room. Members present were: Kay Kirkland, Monica Bivins, Betty Morris, Ernest and Ann Lytle, Albert and Paulette Campbell, Daniel Thornton, Sonia Outlaw-Clark, Jane Tribble, Kent Moore, Betty Williams, Andrea B. Johnson, Hazel Pittman, Hunter Moore, Peggy Jones, Terry Knight, Darlene Knox, Vickie Cooper, Harvey Livingston, Jean Carney and Holly Haak.
President Sonia Outlaw-Clark called the meeting to order and welcomed members. Vice-President Albert Campbell opened with prayer.
· Minutes of the February 17, 2009 meeting were presented and approved.
· Financial report showing a balance of $9,003.24 was presented and approved.
· Banners: Twenty-four banners have been purchased. Banners and Hardware have been ordered.
Members discussed interest in a social event outside of our regular meetings. Ideas for the get-togethers included a progressive event involving several businesses within a block or street. Monica Bivins presented several names for the event and “Business Social Networking” was chosen. Members interested in hosting one of these events were asked to see Monica after the meeting.
Sonia Outlaw-Clark presented a program on perfecting your 15-second business pitch and how to turn your business card into a low-cost marketing machine. After the program, members introduced themselves using their 15-second pitch.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting of the BBA will be at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, at the Delta Room (behind Backyard Barbecue), 703 East Main.
